Victoria England Basotho Heritage Blanket

The Victoria England Basotho Heritage Blanket is the oldest of the Basotho ​Heritage Blanket Collection, dating back to 1897 when Queen Victoria visited the then Basutoland during her Jubilee year and gifting King Lerotholi Letsie a blanket that he draped, poncho-style, over his shoulders and so began the blanket wearing tradition.

The blanket was named Victoria England, reflected the deep connection between the Basotho people and Queen Victoria, who extended her protection over Basotholand in 1838.

Over the years, the Victoria England Basotho Heritage Blanket has become a sought after status symbol and comprises of six designs in the Victoria Collection: Pelo-Ha-Morena (Heart of the King); Crown; Badges of the Brave; Lehlako (Crest); Skin; Malakabe (Flame).

Measuring 155cm x 165cm, this blanket is crafted from a premium blend of 50% Merino wool and 50% Dralon acrylic, offering exceptional warmth, durability, and a seamless blend of cultural heritage and modern comfort.
